Panton designed the BARBOY at a time when he was inspired by free, mobile spaces. The idea was that spontaneous conversations could take place without encountering obstacles. It was from this spirit that the idea for the BARBOY was born: a mobile storage unit that can also serve as a practical little chest of drawers in the living room in addition to its function as a drinks cabinet. Panton's goal was to design a piece of furniture that not only offers storage space for bottles, glasses and other cocktail utensils, but can also be used in the bedroom, hallway or office. The BARBOY consists of two round drawers, one round storage compartment and one lid.
